Build, Don't Talk
Raj Shamani
read
Light and direct. The title on its own is a decent rule to live by.
Raj Shamani is one of the better known Indian podcasters, and he started working in business young. This book collects the practical lessons he wishes someone had told him earlier, written for people roughly my age who are figuring out money, work and how to present themselves.
It's split into short sections on things school mostly skips. How to handle and grow money, how to speak so people actually listen, how to build real relationships with people who can help you, and how to make decisions about your career without copying what everyone else is doing. Each section is a list of short, direct points, often with a story from his own life.
It's a light book, and it's not trying to go deep on any one thing. You can read it in a couple of evenings. A lot of it will be familiar if you've read the heavier books on this shelf.
The value for me is in the title. Most of this site exists because at some point I stopped describing an idea to people and opened a code editor instead.
